This doesn't count as spam, as it is now August 13th, and my last post was on August 12th. Ahahaha, I've beat the system by posting after midnight! Anyways, this fluff might be havin' a few typos and such as it is past midnight, and I wrote this in about twenty minutes, but here's some R/Hr fluff for y'all (and especially for locked_door998, who asked for it), and which I wrote because of someone's comment on FAP. No, I so did not write those last two corny lines of Celestina Warbeck's song...

Last Resort

Hermione sat alone at a table, watching couples dance. Harry--although he and Ginny were still, as far as Hermione knew, not together anymore (she wondered vaguely how long that would work; she was sure Ginny had something up her sleeve)--was waltzing with Ginny, who was laughing at his horrible rhythm. Mr. and Mrs. Weasley would have looked like they were back in Hogwarts if it weren't for the wrinkles and gray hairs that Voldemort had given them. Tonks and Lupin looked extremely happy and were absorbed in each other. Bill, who managed to look handsome even with his scars, and Fleur, even lovelier than usual with the most beautiful dress Hermione had ever seen, were in the middle of it all, and Hermione wished that someday, she would have what they had.

She wouldn't mind the red hair, either.

"You know what this all reminds me of?" Ron's voice came from her right. She hadn't even noticed him sit down. He looked handsome in navy blue dress robes that Hermione had never seen before. "The Yule Ball."

Hermione smiled. "Ah, yes, the Yule Ball. So many memories."

"What kind?" asked Ron, sounding a little more interested than he probably intended to.

"Oh…just a few. Dancing with Viktor--" Ron scowled-- "the Great Hall, my dress…What happened afterwards…"

Ron dropped his scowl and blushed just a little. Hermione smiled to let him know that she didn't hold it against him. He grinned back, and they watched the dancing together in comfortable silence.

"You know, there aren't very many girls here--not that I'm not related to, I mean," he said after a while. Hermione raised an eyebrow.

"No…"

"Not many really pretty ones. See, I was going to ask that one--" he pointed at a girl who must have been Fleur's cousin, judging by her long blonde hair, and the way Charlie, her dance partner, was practically drooling over her-- "But her middle toe was too long. And, see, there was this other one--" he nodded his head towards a very pretty brunette Hermione didn't know. She was dancing with Neville, who looked as if he had never been luckier his entire life-- "But I didn't care for her nose."

Hermione was torn between laughter, anger because he had implied she wasn't "really pretty," and wonder at where Ron was heading with this.

"Yeah, everyone's been picked up, even Luna. Look, she's dancing with my cousin." Hermione crossed her arms, feeling sadly left out. Ron looked at her sideways, smiling. Hermione looked straight ahead at Bill and Fleur, who were twirling around in circles together.

"…But there's this one girl. I've been wanting to ask her all night, but she--well, it's really a long story. I think you'll probably know it. I've fancied her for a long time, and she was this close to telling me that she fancied me, too, and since I'm a bloke, I sort of blew it all up. She's forgiven me, I think, but I still feel really bad about it. Wish I could make it up with her."

Hermione smiled, her face brightening with realization. "Maybe you should, I don't know, ask her to dance."

"Yeah. Maybe." He was quiet again, watching as George and Verity performed some sort of bad tango to the new song which had just started playing.

"Ron…do you enjoy making me angry?" she asked finally.

"What? I don't know what you mean." He pointed at a speaker overhead. "I was listening to the song. Listen."

Hermione recognized it vaguely, and she remembered a day when she had been cleaning with Mrs. Weasley. She blushed at the memory; she and Mrs. Weasley had discussed Hermione and Ron's relationship then.

Ron grinned at her, and pointed out his mother, who looked as if she was in heaven, and his father, who looked as if he'd much like to be somewhere else at the moment. "It's my mom's favorite song."

He stood up and offered his hand towards Hermione. "Would you like to dance? I suppose you're my last resort. He gestured towards Fleur's cousin and the brunette girl, who were sitting together now without any partners, and Luna, who was with Ron's cousin and informing him of the newest conspiracy at the Ministry, probably. "No one else is quite right, anyway."

Hermione looked at him proudly. "I'd love to dance with you, Ron." She took his hand and he led her out to the dance floor. "Except next time I wish you'd be more to the point about it."

"Why should I do that?" He leaned down and said in her ear, "It's too much fun to see you jealous."
